More Art from the Collection of Russell and Jean Lewis

Paul and Darla requested other family members send their photos of pictures they own of H. Lewis’s work. They received a response from Darla’s brother. A few of the photographs were not posted due to quality issues. The Poppies are present again, but in a variation.

About Kim

A few pieces of my great grandfather's work were always in display at our home growing up. In fact, every relative it seemed had his art hanging. One day I wanted to find out more about him, and it seemed there was no compilation of information in any one place, and there was some confusion about who H Lewis was. So I started digging and it led me to be the one to compile information from several different places, with a lot of the information coming from relatives who had stories handed down to them. I also searched records and collected art. Please fill free to contact me regarding information about Hubert Lewis.

I think i may have an original H Lewis pastel. Would love to get some insight into the age of it

    • Kim says:

      Hi Katherine,
I’m on vacation right now, so not near my notes, etc, but off the top of my head I can tell you Hubert seemed to have done most of his work between 1900-1950. I know his signature changed some over the years, so if you send me a photo of the pastel as well as the signature, I may be able to help get a bit closer to when it was made. Of course it will be making an educated guess, so no promises on accuracy. You can send to ksnazzy@comcast.net. Let me know if you’d like me to post the photo and your name to my website as well.

      Thank you,
      Kim
