A few pieces of my great grandfather’s work were always in display at our home growing up. In fact, every relative it seemed had his art hanging. One day I wanted to find out more about him, and it seemed there was no compilation of information in any one place, and there was some confusion about who H Lewis was. So I started digging and it led me to be the one to compile information from several different  places, with a lot of the information coming from relatives who had stories handed down to them. I also searched records and collected art. Please fill free to contact me regarding information about Hubert Lewis at ksnazzy@comcast.net.

I finally approved the last proof of the book Hubert Lewis the Artist: His Life, Family and Work! I’ve been researching, writing, proofing and rewriting, since December 2012. With the help of many people, I believe I have gathered much information and data about Hubert Lewis, enough to paint a picture of the artist’s life.

Hubert Lewis the Artist: His Life, Family and Work

The book features art from this blog site, and much more. There is more of Hubert Lewis’s work out there, and I welcome any one who would like me to include their name and a photo of their piece of H. Lewis art to comment here and I’ll reply.

Many thanks go to each of you who have taken the time to tell me your stories about Hubert Lewis, his art and his family. Thank you to everyone who shared art with me to put into the book.

What do the paintings usually sell for?

    • Kim says:

I have seen the landscape oil paintings go anywhere from around $75-350. The pastels seem to sell for less, while replicas of famous paintings for more. You can probably search eBay to see what has sold there recently. It seems the auction sites other than eBay usually have the paintings listed for more.

I just acquired an oil painting signed by HR Lewis. It is a rural farm scene. It has a nice gold frame that I believe is correct with the year of the painting. Can any one tell me where to sell this painting? It is about 30″ by 20″…Rob

      Hi Rob,
I’ve seen folks sell HR Lewis’s paintings on eBay and also on art and antique type websites. You are welcome to use this website URL in any post for the sale of a painting, so that buyers can know more about the artist.
